Ball Hockey

So it's summer right now which mean's no ice hockey, i know it sucks but hey at least we can get the next best thing... ball hockey. If it's playing on the road with your friends, in an organized league or even just shooting at the net in your driveway, it's all fun.

Right now I'm playing in a league, the OBHL (Orillia Ball Hockey League) My teams pretty suckish. We've won one of our last six games! But for once I'm not the one getting all the blame because I'm not the goalie this time. But I can't say much because all I have is one goal so far while playing
defence. Which believe it or not, I'm one of the top scorers. The reason why I don't like goalie in road hockey is you can't slide around and I'm pretty sure that's the only reason why I chose to be goalie.

A picture of me when I was 7 and my
               team won a tournament.

The History of Hockey

Most people that play the game to today have no idea when or where it started. The game of hockey has been played for over 400 years! at first they used a stick and a rock but it was basically the same idea. The first season of NHL was in 1917-18 with just four teams. The league expanded in the 1920s but when the great depression hit the NHL was reduced to the original 6. The original 6 was just Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, and Detroit Red Wings. The NHL doubled in teams in 1967 when they expanded into east and west divisions. The league continued to expand into what it is now there is 30 teams across North America all competing for the Stanley Cup.

Who started the NHL?

Tommy Gordon started the National Hockey League.

Concussions

Concussions are a hot topic in the NHL. The NHL needs to figure out how to protect players from concussions. Concussions are taking down stars for injury, in some cases for prolonged periods. The long term effects of concussions can include physical injury, personality issues and ends of career. Something has to be done to stop the concussions before athletes ruin their lives playing the game that they love.

For example Sidney Crosby was takin out of the NHL with a concussion for 3 months on hit by David Stteckel.

                                                        Eastern Conference Finalist

Even though i think the pens are going to win he cup the Bruins are going to give the a run for there money. Sidney Crosby is going to be pretty much out of the picture because he up against the best faceoff man in the league, the Selke Trophy winner as the NHL's best defensive forward in 2012 and is a finalist a.gain this year. Crosby is lso up agains the crazy deffensive pair Chara and denis Seidenberg.
